OGD – NARROW BAND IMAGING TECHNOLOGY
Narrowband imaging (NBI) endoscopy is an optical image-enhancing technology that allows a detailed inspection of vascular and mucosal patterns, providing the ability to predict histology during real-time endoscopy. Narrow-band imaging is an imaging technique for endoscopic diagnostic medical tests where the light of specific blue and green wavelengths is used to enhance the detail of certain aspects of the surface of the mucosa.
COLONOSCOPE
Colonoscopes are used for the removal of foreign bodies, the excision of tumours or colorectal polyps (polypectomy), and the control of hemorrhage. Routine colonoscopy is important in diagnosing intestinal cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. These endoscopic procedures reduce the need for invasive surgical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
SIGMOIDOSCOPY
A sigmoidoscopy may also be used to take a tissue sample or biopsy. And it can be used to remove polyps or hemorrhoids (swollen veins in your rectum and anus). It is also a screening test for colon cancer and rectal cancer. A sigmoidoscopy is performed using a thin, flexible tube called a sigmoidoscope.
24 HOUR PH METRY
24 hour oesophagal pH metry is a test to confirm the presence of reflux and assess the severity of reflux. The test results can be used effectively to tailor the medical treatment and decide whether endoscopic or surgical methods of treating GERD are required.
ECRP
ERCP (short for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) is a procedure used to diagnose diseases of the gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, and liver. The test looks “upstream” from where the digestive fluid comes from—the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas—to where it enters the intestines.
OESOPHAGEAL MANOMETRY
Esophageal manometry is a test that is used to measure the function of the lower esophageal sphincter (the valve that prevents reflux, or backward flow, of gastric acid into the esophagus) and the muscles of the esophagus. This test will tell your doctor if your esophagus can move food to your stomach normally.
ANORECTAL MANOMETRY
Anorectal manometry is a test performed to evaluate patients with constipation or fecal incontinence. This test measures the pressures of the anal sphincter muscles, the sensation in the rectum, and the neural reflexes that are needed for normal bowel movements. PREPARATION FOR THE PROCEDURE. Anorectal manometry is a technique used to measure contractility in the anus and rectum. This technique uses a balloon in the rectum to distend the rectum and a pressure sensor at the internal anal sphincter to measure the presence or absence of the recto sphincteric reflex.
CAPSULE ENDOSCOPY
A capsule endoscopy is a procedure that involves swallowing a small capsule, which is the size of a large vitamin pill. Inside the capsule is a tiny wireless camera that takes pictures as it passes through the small intestine.
